Apex is a town in North Carolina and a thriving suburb of Raleigh. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the town’s population to be 56,000 as of beginning 2019. History of Apex
Apex was integrated as a town in 1873. It was named Apex simply because it is the highest point on the Chatham Railroad, from Moncure, NC to Cary, NC. Apex Union Depot, which currently houses the Apex Chamber of Commerce, was initially a station for the Seaboard Air Line Railroad.
